The University of South Florida, established in 1956 and located in Tampa, is a high-impact, global research university dedicated to student success. USF is ranked in the Top 50 nationally among all public universities in the 2024 U.S. News and World Report National University Rankings. In 2018, the Florida Legislature designated USF as a "Preeminent State Research University," placing USF in an elite category among the state’s 12 public universities. In 2023, USF was also accepted into the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU), the first public university in Florida to be invited to join in nearly 40 years and is one of only two institutions from the State University System of Florida to serve as an AAU member. Membership in the AAU is by invitation only, and its 71 member universities comprise only 3% of all 4-year universities in the U.S.

The Department of Neurology at the University of South Florida’s College of Medicine provides world-class training and education to its medical students, residents, fellows, practicing physicians, and the community. The Comprehensive MS Center is a subspecialty program of the University of South Florida's Department of Neurology, providing comprehensive care for patients with central nervous system (CNS) inflammatory diseases. As a designated MS Center of Comprehensive Care accredited by the NMSS, and one of only 4 in the 3rd largest state in the US and the only one on Florida’s west coast, our Center serves a large MS population of approximately 3000 patients, coming from central Florida and the Greater Tampa Bay area population of more than 4 million. The USF MS Center is an integral part of the Greater Tampa Bay MS community at large.
