Description:

Providence-Swedish Hospital in Seattle is seeking to hire a neurologist with demonstrated interest in clinical care and research in multiple sclerosis and related neuroimmune disorders, to join its award-winning Swedish Multiple Sclerosis Center. This is a combined clinical and research position suited for an outstanding MD or MD, PhD candidate who is board certified/eligible in Neurology and has fellowship training in MS or Neuroimmunology. Swedish is the largest hospital in the Pacific Northwest with over 100 neurology and neurosurgery practitioners in five hospitals in the Seattle region. Swedish is part of the Providence Healthcare system that serves a large population in seven Western states, including over 15,000 individuals with MS, and is affiliated with the Institute for Systems Biology.

 

Clinical responsibilities include joining our 4 MS specialists to provide patient-centered clinical care in a uniquely comprehensive award-winning MS Center, recognized as a NMSS Center for Comprehensive Care. Other services within the Center include MS rehabilitation, PT, OT, rehabilitation psychology, neuropsychiatry, social work, vocational counseling and a wide array of patient support programs. The Center specializes in MS and related autoimmune disorders.

 

Research responsibilities include conducting clinical trials and clinically relevant research, expanding our portfolio of translational studies and collaborations within Providence health system and beyond, and active involvement in publications. Our institution is involved in studies funded by industry, non-profit, Federal and philanthropic grants.

 

Specifics:

  • Amount of clinical vs research effort is flexible.
  • Research time is protected.
  • Outpatient neurologists do not cover inpatients.
  • Outpatient call is approximately 1 weekday/month and 2 weekends per year.
  • Position is salaried, not productivity-based. Expected salary is $305,000/yr.
